A mixed use 92 acre regeneration scheme, redeveloping the former Lister Petter manufacturing site into a new sustainable neighbourhood. The scheme includes a business park, shope, leisure, schools and 600 new homes with play areas, a riverside park along the re-opened formerly culverted river Cam, the Eastern and Western Flanks offering both formal and informal recreation.

Munro + Whitten prepared the landscape masterplan and detailed landscape drawings, the play and recreation strategy for the site, and played a key role in restoring this section of the river Cam, recreating an important nature conservation corridor.

Key outcomes

- regeneration of a formally industrial land

- re-opening of a lost river culverted by the industrial development

- link between town, village and countryside

- incorporates historic buildings within a new urban network

- creation of a network of new urban greenways and pocket parks linked to the new river corridor

- re-establishing biodiversity in the valley

- new pedestrian streets, squares and courts to increase movement and circulation
